Galatasaray vs Chelsea FC

Galatasaray has some weak spots with Telles and Hajrovic among their star squad led by Sneijder. Mourinho says he thinks Drogba is the best striker in the world, but that must have been the Drogba 5 years ago. Today he still has a good rating of 110, but that is hardly scary.

Schalke vs. Galatasaray Preview

Tonight FC Schalke 04 will host the Champions League game against Galatasaray Istanbul. Given the 1:1 in the first leg, chances are with Schalke to advance. Here is the probable starting XI of Schalke.

                                                  Hildebrand (121.3)

        Uchida (126.4)    Höwedes (128.0)    Matip (117.8) Kolasinac (126.7)

                                   Höger (112.0)       Neustädter (109.5)

                      Farfan (137.4)        Draxler (128.4)    Bastos (118.1)

                                                Pukki (110.0)

Subs: Fuchs (107.7), Obasi (114.5), Meyer (121.2), Klingenburg (120.4)

Schalke has a sound, though not world-class, defense. Its offensive capabilities are reduced by the injury of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (143.0). His replacement Pukki doesn't have the same quality. He is also a rather small player so high balls to the box will not be of much value.

Schalke's wing forwards are strong. Especially Farfan will cause some headache to Galatasaray's defense as he will have support by Uchida. Bastos is also a strong forward, but the young talent Kolasinac is unlikely to play very high. As a trained central-back he will show strong defense, but will not take part in attacks.

The other guy to watch out for is Draxler. He completed 100 games in Bundesliga already although he is just 19. As one of the biggest talents in Germany he recently started playing the 10 and did so remarkably well.

Sead Kolasinac's breakthrough?

Just a short notice on yesterday's game between Galatasaray Istanbul and FC Schalke 04 that ended 1:1 in Turkey. While Schalke had suffered some bad performance lately, it was still ranked as the 18th best team in the world according to GoalImpact. Ten ranks higher than Galatasaray.

According to the German online news portal spiegel.de, Sead Kolasinac contributed to Schalkes good performance. The 19 year old talent played instead of Christian Fuchs as left defender. Not sure if Schalke's trainer Keller is reading goalimpact.com, but if he did he would have found support that this is a good move. Kolasinac is listed in Schalke's team roster second most efficient defender with a GoalImpact of 126.7, while Fuchs only has a mediocre 107.7.

Kolasinac is a trained centre-back. However he played left-back yesterday and did a good job. If he can maintain his GoalImpact on this position (and that will take some time to verify), he's a candidate for the German national team on that position as good left-backs are scarce in Germany and thus competition is low.
